2009 Lamorinda Tournament Results
FPUSA National Doubles Tournament - July 25th & 26th
The Lamorinda Petanque Club had a very successful two day National Doublets Tournament July 25 and July 26. After weeks of preparation with actual blood sweat and tears, the field was perfect, the attendance great and every one was pleased. The FPUSA [The Federation Petanque USA], was complimentary and we had a very favorable result.
There were a total of 13 clubs represented: Fresno, .Lamorinda, Los Angeles, Menlo Park, Oakhurst, Palm Springs, Petaluma, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Rafael, Sonoma and Willits. We had 20 mixed teams on Saturday and 13 Womens teams and 21 Mens teams on Sunday. A total of 54 teams played in the FPUSA National Doublets Tournament.
At the awards presentation on Saturday Jacques de Noray from the French Consul made the presentations. At the dinner Saturday we were honored with the presence of Jacques de Noray from the French Consul, Howard Nap, representing Henri Marcel [Marcel & Henri Charcuterie], Colbly La Place, President of Heni IV, Marcel Kapireca, President of Le Faneur, and Carol Federighi from the Lafayette City Council. Fifty-two people attended. The event was held at the Lafayette Community Center and was catered by Back-Forty Texas BBQ.
Coffee was available in the morning and croissants were made possible by our good friend and renowned baker Jean Claude Bunand.
Both days lunch was provided and after the awards and recognitions an aperitif and cheese and pate were shared.
